Why does Jane Eyre's aunt resend her?

I think Jane's aunt treats her like she does because she is not her own child.  I believe she is taking her anger from her husband's death out on Jane.  Jane's uncle adopted her while she was still an infant and then when he died her aunt started treating her like a slave.  Jane's aunt needed to grieve somehow and turned all her anger towards Jane, and her children followed her example.

  1. I agree with what you wrote but I also believe that Jane's aunt resents her because of how much love and care her uncle gave her rather than his own children and wife. I think Jane's aunt is jealous of the affection deviated from her and directed towards Jane.
