BBC Podcast

Pros: I liked how they talked about the characters in depth and also gave a lot of facts about Jane Eyre, and showed us how to novel compared to Charlotte Bronte's life. The summary the speakers gave about the novel was also accurate and I thought they did a good job of summarizing, because they made it simple for the listener to understand. I also liked how the speakers gave their point of views and backgrounds. Bronte also had a good balance of male and female characters within the novel, which I think can have a big impact on a novel.

Cons: I did not like how the readers talked over each other at times, because it made them difficult to understand. Their accents were also distracting at times, and they said "umm" a lot with was also a distraction. If you have never read the novel before, this podcast gives it away too. Following along was also hard at times because sometimes they rambled on too much about one topic and it got boring.

Interesting Topics: I thought it was interesting to learn about how Bronte's dad opened a school when he was only 16 years old, and he was born into poverty but worked his way up. Jane Eyre was also Charlotte Bronte's first success and I thought that was interesting, because it was basically a novel about Bronte's perosonal life. I also liked how Jane and Mr. Rochester somewhat "save" each other becasue Rochester provides Jane with a job and money, and Jane saves Mr. Rochester by marrrying him.

  1. I agree with you that the speakers talked over each other and the accents were distracting, as well as the use of "um." I also found that Bronte's dad opening up a school at 16 was interesting. I like how you pointed out the balance between male and female characters, now that you bring that up I can see it as well.
